Default My Hornets (update: 1-22-09)

Update: 1-22-09 post #13
------------------------------------

Crappy picks I know but felt like using them for now, have to start a thread some how anyway.

I have, one that I am going to restore, Like the one I had when I was younger "One with black body for now"

Other is just a chassis that in time will have a scorcher type body on it.
One with Flag scheme is a new Re-release Hornet that will be my basher, that is why it has same scheme has my Rustler; not done yet, still need to install electronics and a few other things.

I am going to try a Idea on using Heating Duct, aluminum tape to look like aluminum. I am going to do the sides of the chassis and the wing etc.
nose of chassis as the tape on already. Roof was just left over tape and will get redone. Also why the wing is silver "So the under side does not look bad" when the tape is put on.
So I hope when I get more done I can post up better pictures of it.

Thank you guys

Found some more foil tape in my garage, did the chassis but not enough to do the wing, Lowes does not carry anymore
So have to wait on that.

I finished the electronics, still have the fake lights and paint the figure then foil tape the wing. I had an inner wing part, from one of my Scooby RS4 bodies, I am going to use that for a cleaner look then the airplane wing it came with, just to change it up a bit. It should look well when the foil is on it.

I also took the foil off the roof and decided to foil the roll bar instead.

Thats it for now. Hopefully I will have the figure painted tomorrow if all goes well. My kid wanted to watch me paint it, so have to wait so she can watch me.
She picked out the colors for it.

I don't see me ever selling them, I actually would like to get another one down the line for a grasshopper.

I painted the guy for the flag scheme one, now I need to paint the lights and find more foil tape to do the wing.

Decals and wing are done. Not sure if I will use the lights on it or not.
Seams I used the wrong camera, my cameras suck but this one seams to be the worst

Guess it depends on where it is used as in placement, other then thickness and adhesive strength used for the backing of the foil.

Wing might not be a good idea or in high damage areas. But then aging the wing would take a brunt of damage no matter what. The chassis it is just on the sides "not wrapped to the bottom, so it should not see to much damage, If it does, I will most likely just loose the decals. With a little effort the foil can be peeled off and more applied.

Will see what happens. If the body was more solid like ABS or styrene it might work better, Lexan has flex so it seams on big areas the foil does not want to flex or give the same as the Lexan.

For a Lexan body, next time I might try that Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome paint. Main reason for trying it here was, so I did not paint the chassis. That way it can be un-done. Foil over the Lexon was an after thought.
