That body is real close to the Parma VW Beetle...

I've seen at least four Lexan copies of the Scorcher shell so far. I'm sure there's more out there.

The cheapest is probably the Parma, mainly because of the shipping fees.

Not quite identical, but close. Your Frewer has the license plates molded in, and the detail seems a little softer than the Parma/Kamtec body (which appear to be identical twins, but Kamtec offers an ABS version as well). There's yet another Scorcher clone with the plates molded in, but that one has the BAJA BUG lettering intact. Had one on my old Audi Quattro:

I'm not sure who made the thing, but I know it's old. No windshield wipers on this one.

Yes... I agree... Intersting.

I know (but have never seen a picture of) Kyosho used to have a Baja in thier line up, on the late '70's, early 80's, mounted to the Scorpion/Tomohawk frame, in reply to the SandS. But, yours is definatly a knock off of the Tamiya.

Got me stumped, mate!...

Sorry, Mike, I sold the Audi about a year ago. It was never that entertaining to drive, really. Odd that it came after the Scorcher and drove so much worse. The only thing it had going for it was that it had a diff, and HUGE wheel bearings. I think they were 10x28's or some such. The tranny was the weirdest part of it- the suspension pivot went thru the tranny, so the whole tranny (but not the motor) would pivot as the suspension cycled. Friction shocks all round, like Grasshopper fronts.

With a Scorcher, you can adjust your driving style a bit and make it go where you want. This thing was a challenge just to make it go in a straight line down the sidewalk.

Badmuthatrucker, you want to see a Kyosho Baja body?
