Cool would love to get my 90 into a condition to drive to Africa. I built my own roof tent but its cheap but have stayed in it one night in Tring at a comp and worked well. The garage space needs to be next priority to finnish the 3.9l 80 inch CCV/Comp safari spec so it leaves my 90 to get into a better road going/offroad capable, tow recovey vehicle. (Thats the plan anyway money and time permitting) And there is an 88 inch chassis with a 3.9l V8 getting in the way in my driveway so that will have to go to a good home for some beer tokens. I did toy with the idea of building it up for a mess around but its in the way TBH so it'llhave to go with the spera gearboxes and other accumulated crap you get with these things.
Spitfiremk1 was a landy trained mechanic, run his own garage building specials for comp safari and trials for about 12years, he built and raced his own comp safari spec RR pickup turned hybrid against others in the UK and did ok, I think he won some season back in 1991 will check next time im over his and has been trialling since he was able to drive at 16/17. Saying that he doesn't come out when its cold!! (today for example)
Trialling teaches you vehicle control and I would say that my neices would cope better than the average 17/18/19 Yo in snow ice and bad conditions even tho they cannot legally drive on UK roads.
