Default The Great LSTR Bumper Debate

So all in the Title really

Should we at the LSTR meets reward scale points for Bumpers.

As you may have noticed no points were awarded for Bumpers this time out.

Was this wrong or Right?

The way I would like to see it is this:-

Scale Points for Homemade Bumpers and Sliders
-3 Per for Each (2 Sliders count only for 1)

-1 for Each Plastic bolt on aftermarket item.

I vote yes. I'm sure I suggested this, before.

my front bumper hindered me a few times today, but I love the look of having
a beefy bumper up front. in fact bumpers and sliders protect your body a fair amount too...

so if the bumpers rule was in place it would be your own choice

- bumpers ,coz you like them and less clearance + scale points

or

- no bumpers and more clearance (better perfomance)

But what about the difference between Bought and Homemade?

Should we differentiate?

i can say difference betwen home made metal and plastic bumpers ist weight, but i don`t whore abouth, i add my self extra (dead) weight on the chassis for better perform

and second ist, what home made bumper more compact and truck with home made bumpers have better clearance so, i think good point to give same points for home made and plastic bumpers, ex. -1 for each bumper

ex. look at Jay home made bumper, it build very nice folow body and give maximum clearance, so easy can drive on rocks, and "stock" bumpers more bigger and more difficult drive with

A yes from me
but perhaps -2 metal homemade -1 plastic brought as a full metal set would be -6 and plastic -3
only because homemade metal one can be made for max clearance
and not -9 metal -3 plastic
just my thoughts

So a stock dingo would score 3 and a stock Honcho 2

Homemade Metal all round -6

Sounds Fair

im not an LSTR member, but here's my biggest problem with points for accesories.....bought or made. whats to say that you made them? with the large amount of vendors offering scale part, if i buy a custom made scale bumper, should i really get more points for it than someone who bought, say a proline plastic bumper? there's no proof my steel bumper was made by my own hands, therefore, its still bought.

i think any NO STOCK part that adds to the scale affect, should count the same for the simple fact that its a change that made the truck look more scale. where it came from is really irrelevant. just my 2 cents.

While we're on rule tweaks one thing I'm seeing a lot is things being thrown out the back of trucks, spares, ground anchors, sand ladders etc.
Now the rule is you have to finish a course with what you started with for it to count, so from my thinking if all your recovery gear/scale items fall out you either leave it or it's a repair/touch to put it all on again, each time it happens.
If you leave it and the items would be counted towards your scale items then they will no longer count.

if you use sandladers ground anchor when stuck would this count as a touch or just replace on truck not put in pockets
