Like the big doofus I am... I keep letting small stuff get me distracted..... Last night when I should have been getting the distributor ready for the mold, I kept staring at it and thinking....it's missing something.... Like plug wires....AND PLUGS!
Here's my first attempt...I got so excited making it...I screwed up the dimensions...it should be longer at the thread end and shorter at the white end... And I need to figure out how to hold the brass Rod so it doesn't bend when cutting the threads with the die.
Also managed to get a nut pressed into the block so the plug is removeable.....!
After I get the mold done, I will have a go at it again....see if I could get the plug a bit more scale....got to make 8 of them.....

Anywho... Watcha think?

Hey Preston! Can't think of another word than crazy, you are a crazy talented creation machine buddy! I was wondering how you made the fake threads because they looked real and then read you also tapped it and inserted a nut in the block lol You playing mind bowling in my head hahaha yep I'm definitely mind bowln lool

Also the twin headlights front looks killer with the grille. Are those lights the DX ones? Because the pattern look slightly different to me.

And I certainly won't complain about you being distracted doing new stuff like that, your experiments are always extremely interesting and we know it will add up to all the other awesome stuff you already put into it. God knows what you'll do next lol! but keep it going buddy this is awesome.

Hey thanks Fred ! Lol... Yeah...didn't think it would work initially, but really glad it worked out!
The headlight lenses are from the Tamiya Globeliner ! The DX ones were way too big and I haven't yet figured out a way to cut them down, especially with the shape they have.

I had to do some tweaking on the mold for the distributor, but I think I finally got it sorted. I had to 'cap' the plug wire holes as the resin was barely getting down in the area in the mold, as you can see from the one on the right. So after capping it I made a new mold and the resin cast worked out nice. So now for each piece I will have cut off the caps. Not sure if I will drill them out as it may weaken the posts....will try to drill one and see what's what. They are going to be covered by the plug boots anyway....lol....

Anywho...here's a pic of it....watcha think?

The distributor did not make your posts weak at all, posts are still full of awesome! lool

Nice progress on the distributor! If drilling the posts the same size as outer diameter wires makes the posts too weak maybe you could drill them like inside diameter of wire and insert a piece of steel or other stiff piece, so the insert itself goes in the distributor, and in the wire. So the wire would not actually go in the distributor, but the insert would still make it go out of the distributor straight.

Lol...thanks Fred! The 'posts' comments had me confused for a minute...then I got it! Lol..!

Yeah...that's basically my plan...providing the wire itself is small enough... I ordered some 28awg single strand wire but I think the wire strand itself is about 1mm. The post diameter is 2mm so that leaves the post wall 0.5mm thick....providing I can drill it dead center....lol! The good news is that the boots that I'm planning on building will fit over the posts, so hopefully that will give additional support....lol! Will see how it goes....stay tuned......lol
