Default Project Split Scorcher

With $ and projects running thin I scrounged around for a low/no budget option. After some digging around I came up with almost enough stuff to put a split window insert in an extra Sand Scorcher body.
Still got more sanding and priming to do to get it smooth.

Thanks. Might be more to come. Thinking of giving it an interior.

I decided to add a Herrod Helper Wing. Made it from brass sheet. I'll paint it flat black like the originals.

Got more work done. Finished the heater channels and added side rails. Also cut on the taillights so I could put in the clear lenses that came with the body set.

I cut out the running boards and made a C channel from styrene sheet/strip and bent up some 3mm styrene tubing. Tacked it all in with CA then hit all the joints with plastic weld. It helps that most of my misspent youth was working in an air cooled only VW shop.

First coat of stage 1. The pic really doesn't pick up the level of baked in oldness.

Rust and dirt is applied and sealed. Time to mod the windows and start the interior.
