Hi Trini2DBone - A convert !, I guess anyone into their RC has to build a Sand Scorcher/Baja Bug at some point in their build career - this is mine

Once I'm a little further into the build I will be looking at setting up the Junkyard Stance Shapeways shop - I will post any news here first !

Thanks mibaxx - I am pleased you like my Porsche engine plans for my Sand Scorcher

Eventually, you will be able to order my custom engine (and other) parts through Shapeways Europe, they print the parts in the Netherlands and send direct to the customer. Check back with the build for more information in the near future

Default Junkyard Stance Sand Scorcher, Ignition System

Now the Distributor and Alternator are in place, it's time to back track a few steps and consider the engine cabling and electrics

On the Fan Cowling, I included a set of grooves and clips to hold in place some 1mm "bell wire" - single core copper cable - for the ignition leads and earth cables

These were all enlarge carefully with a 1.2mm drill bit

as well as the seven holes in the Distributor cap

The start plan for the wiring was something like this

Feeding the wires through was fiddly and took a little time - I started with the wire too long at first, and then cut it down as I worked with it

At the Cam Cover ends, I used some black heat shrink for the spark plugs

Not only parts my friend. The whole scorcher you build here is what I want to have. I don't have a scorcher and till now no plans to build one. But if see this...maybe a dream will come true?

The other way, I'll repeat: If you plan to sell this fantastic buggy after finished, please think of me...really!

Default Junkyard Stance Sand Scorcher, Ignition System

Next up, the three remaining ignition leads for the second bank of cylinders - these use a similar set of clips on the opposite side.
I'm also using the fixing points on the sides of the Fan Cowling for a pair of ground leads, in black

Again, the red bell wire was fed through the enlarged fixing points before cutting to size

and on the other side, the ground lead runs to the Distributor

Not an entirely real ignition system - I left out the ignition coil/stater motor but I'm happy with the added detail it brings

Oh my what an absolute materpiece. I am blown away by the work you are doing on this.

Will you be offering any of your parts via shapeways?

,,,it's time to look at the timing gear and belts for driving the Cooling Fan and Alternator

First up, a back plate that acts as a belt and chain guard

And mounted to that, the belts and chains that link up all the ancillary engine parts that are visible from the rear of the Sand Scorcher

Awesome. Even a little bit better with every piece of 3D print, every screw and every great idea for this engine. Can't wait to see the motor in position.

Default Junkyard Stance Sand Scorcher, Timing Gear

There are 11 pilot holes printed into in the Engine Block that needed enlarging to suit the chosen m1.6 hardware, I used a 1.2mm bit to give a good bite

And one in both the Fan Cowling, and Alternator

Hi RNS

Totally agree !, I have used some M2 versions of these as I put together the Scorcher on its final final fit - Check out the bottom of page 1 - tested on the Sun Visor - they look proper scale !

For the engine, the M1.6 versions only come in 4mm lengths ( from RC Bitz), and they are yet to offer a fitting "tool" for this size

Hopefully, I will be able to include them by the time I finish the build

Thanks for your continued interest !
