1 point for use of winch or 5 points for a roll?

We don't use winches or the winch rules in our comps so it would be 5 for a Reposition

Hmmm, actually we do and have been for some time, there was an agreement to make as many sections as possible winch free to speed things up and that the CoC can dictate on the day whether they can be used or not on a section or at all.

Then you should be applying Winch Penalties every time there used and that's never happened as far as I was aware.

Winching: (+3 pts each) A winch penalty will be assessed every time the winch cable is connected for a pull. If the winch line comes unhooked during a pull, or a 2nd attachment is needed, another penalty will be assessed. If at any time during the process of removing recovery tools and/or winch line from vehicle, the vehicle is moved by any force other than it's winch or it's own power, a touch penalty will be assessed and the vehicle repositioned to the last cleared gate (see vehicle touch rule).

You'll have to enforce the rules fully and apply penalties for winching then

If not you'll have people winching all day long as there would be no penalties and it will get really boring really quickly.

we have been giving +1 for each winch connect

most sections have not needed winching or winching has not been allowed.

we don't have any course rules or penalties post on the forum so we have been using mostly previous years rules.

After a good thrashing on Sunday, I later tried the Kemora with a new 11.1 lipo.

I can confirm that the little car does not need the extra power in confined areas, it hit a small bump in the road and just missed my the wing mirror on my car as it passed
